Our Story

Throne was founded in June 2020 as the global pandemic restricted access to bathrooms across the world, but Founder and CEO, Fletcher Wilson, had the idea well before. Wilson, who had experienced the urgent need for a bathroom on many occasions due to gastrointestinal issues, was frustrated with the difficulty of finding clean bathrooms in cities where he lived. He developed a habit of asking rideshare drivers, delivery people, and almost everyone he came across, about their strategies.  One memorable answer came from a rideshare driver that revealed  a neatly rolled necktie in the glove compartment. “Whenever I drop a passenger at a hotel,” the driver said, “I throw on the tie, walk into the lobby, and boom, a really nice bathroom is all mine.” 

Stories like this inspired Wilson and his like-minded founders to build Throne. They believe that “everyone deserves a really nice bathroom” and their diverse experiences in portable sanitation, engineering, user research and start-ups have enable them to create a truly innovative product that meets a real world need.
