Throne for Cities & Parks

Throne is helping cities and parks ensure that their residents and visitors can enjoy public spaces longer and worry-free.

Throne makes it faster, easier and cheaper to provide restroom amenities to your community. Our self-contained design avoids the need for costly water and sewer connections and takes the headache of public restrooms off of city and park staff.

America only has 8 public toilets per 100,000 population. With retail closing bathrooms to the general public and a heightened desire for cleanliness, Throne is needed more than ever.

Case Study: Yards Park Community Survey

The Capitol Riverfront - Navy Yard area is Washington DC’s fastest growing neighborhood with trendy shops, restaurants and one of the District’s most popular riverfront parks. Yards Park is used year round by joggers, dog walkers and visitors enjoying recreational events and views.

A lack of public restrooms has posed a challenge for visitors and local businesses. The Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District (BID) thought a Throne could provide an amenity for visitors and take some of the burden off of local retailers that had become the area’s de facto public restroom.

While businesses saw value in providing a Throne for the public, the BID also wanted insight into the reception among the area’s residents and visitors. They set up a poll outside the Throne that asked passer-byers to weigh in on the need for public restrooms. Eighty-three people responded to the first question and 53 answered an additional four-question survey. Results were overwhelmingly positive.
